      WHO AM I ?

My name is Lisa. I am a retired software engineer, avid reader, tireless student and artist/illustrator. I live in Colorado with my husband, Steve. I started my spiritual journey in 2000 and am only recently emerging from my dark night of the soul which began in 2010. It's nice to meet you and I look forward to this journey together.

Preface - I am no longer posting new entries to this Blog

Welcome to my blog. I’m an emergent. This is my term for a person coming out into the light of their life after breaking free from their darkness, their cave, their cocoon. My intention with this forum is to bring you along on my journey into the light. No one is immune from experiencing a period in their lives that can be labeled a dark time. Whether it is battling an illness, a divorce, incarceration, hospitalization, care taking, addiction or a bad oppressive situation, we all have to experience this night of the soul. It’s part of our experience as humans.  God willing though, at some point, we find ourselves at the mouth of the cave facing life and light again.  And then what? Where do we go from there? How do we not withdraw back into the cave where we continue to hide and feel safe?

I’ve retreated. I have turned my back on the sun and withdrew inward out of fear. Fear of being seen. Fear of more pain. I want to stop that pattern. I want to stop being afraid and I am going to take you with me. You are going to hold my hand and together we are going to walk out into the warmth of the sun, feel it warm our faces and our bodies and we are going to move away from that cave entrance together. This leg of the journey feels scary and I am so sick of retreating. Going dark is completely unacceptable because my cave is overflowing with six years of dirty laundry and festering crap that I don’t want to look at it or be around it anymore. I am choosing to move out and face whatever is out there. There is no more healing to be done in that darkness. My healing now has to happen out in the warmth. Let’s do this. I hope you come with me on this part of my soul’s journey.
