Today is about planning and we are going to get creative and have some fun!
When we start out on a journey, if we are prepared and intentional, we make a plan. We get maps together, we think about what we want to see and what we want to experience. This leg of our journey we will do the same thing, with one exception. We will determine what we want, what we want to experience but we will not worry about how. The how is God’s part. The control freak in us needs to let go of the logic of how reasonable or possible our request is. Can you let God determine how to get you there? I promise you, it is freeing to give up that control because quite frankly, that is the hardest part of the trip. Thinking up all the possibilities we want for our life is easy and fun and an exercise we could get lost in. We just need to exercise a little imagination and we are off and running.
In my “Badass” book this morning I read the chapter on the mind. Quite “coincidentally” (I put that in quotes because you need to know that I don’t believe in coincidences) it is right in line with my plan for today. It was a nice little validation that this is our next step. Jen Sincero says “Our thoughts are the most powerful tools we’ve got. I think, therefore, I can create awesomeness. Or horrendousness. But the bottom line is that it’s through our thoughts that we create our realities….You created the reality you now exist in with your thoughts, which means you can use the very same power of thought to change it….if you fixate your mind on [a] truth, believe that it is real and already here, and take decisive action, it will manifest itself.”
I have been practicing manifesting for several years now with great success! I suggest if you haven’t tried this practice in your life, to start now, in simple ways. For example, every time that I pull into a crowded parking lot I imagine my perfect spot and I say a gratitude prayer for giving me that spot and I l drive to where it should be and look to find it with the knowing that it will be there. And it almost always is! Steve asks me now to create a good parking space for us whenever we go anywhere. This is an easy exercise and one that will show you the power of our thoughts for creating our reality. Once you master the small stuff, you can move on to bigger things. Today we are moving on to the big stuff.
Have you heard of a Vision Board? A vision board is a collage of images that you cut out of magazines or print from the internet that represent what you want your life to bring you. Travel, family, love, money, friends, jobs, cars, homes….whatever! I heard of one person writing a check to themselves for one million dollars and putting it on their vision board. Think big! Don’t limit yourself on this! If you are good at photoshop or any of those photo apps out there, place a picture of yourself in the car you want or standing in the yard of your dream home or amongst a group of people that represent the family you want to create. The Vision Board can also contain words of affirmation such as “I am grateful for the gifts in my life”; “I am powerful”; “I am beautiful”; “I am loved and supported”; “I am the lead singer in a rock band”. The affirmations need to be in the present and written with gratitude as if they are real now. Do not use the words want or need. We don’t want to create a future of wanting and needing. Once your board is done…put it somewhere where you will see if every day, multiple times a day and look at it! Intently…every day. As your mind believes these images, the universe will begin to create the realities for you. Don’t take my word for it, do it and see what happens. OMG, I can’t wait to do this!
The other way to do this, that I am going to do today, is to create a Mind Movie or Vision Movie versus a Vision Board. The Mind Movie is basically the same thing as a Vision Board, using images from the internet or from your photo gallery and affirmations…but it is in the form of an animated slide show/movie with music. And it is something you watch every day, multiple times a day.
So which ever route you choose, the Vision Board or the Vision Movie, you are creating your journey plan of where you are going and what you are going to experience.
Here is what I have done so far to put together my Vision plan:
I wrote out bullet items of the categories I wanted to represent of my life.
Love & Family
Wealth & Abundance
Helping & Inspiring Work
Then I wrote out statements under each category. Here are a few examples. (Some categories have many statements, some have only one).
Love & Family:
I love and cherish my husband, Steve, and I am equally loved and cherished by him.
I love and cherish my children and am equally loved and cherished by them.
I choose to travel the world with my husband Steve.
I choose to live in Tuscany, Italy for a few months out of the year with my husband Steve.
I will lovingly attract close, deep, meaningful friendships that are healthy, supportive, mutual and loving.
Next I will find images that support each of my statements and collect them in a folder on my computer.
Using Windows Movie Maker, I will create my movie using my images and my statements.
Lastly I will find some amazing sound track to put into my movie.
Please share your experiences and your vision boards and your movies. I will share mine when I am done making it. Doesn’t this sound fun?! I can’t wait to get going on making mine and I look forward to seeing yours. Now get those imaginations going and shoot for the stars!
